CV

  • I am a Specialist Teacher and Assessor educated at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity (HADC).
  • I have worked with adults, and with children of all ages, both in a school environment and in private settings, providing literacy and numeracy support.
  • I carry out Specialist Teacher Assessments for HADC and have experience in teaching English to foreign nationals with specific learning difficulties, children and adults.
  • My priority is to provide high-quality assessments and reports that meet current testing and reporting guidelines and include tailored and individualised recommendations.
  • I place great importance on providing a safe and multisensory environment that nurtures confidence and utilises the learners’ strengths.
  • I have a keen interest in making spelling fun and accessible to everyone and have co-authored the book Anyone Can Spell It. As English is my second language, I can fully appreciate the frustrations of those trying to make sense of the quirky and sometimes seemingly nonsensical world of English spelling.
  • I strongly believe in celebrating neurodiversity and in challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences.

Interesting / fun facts

  • Thanks to my autistic daughter's passion for exotic animals, I am slowly learning to overcome my fear of snakes!
  • I can walk for miles and miles and miles.
  • I love books, camping and live music festivals and events.
