CV

  • Jenny Fenhalls, BSc (Hons), MA, Dip OCR (SpLD), APC
  • Jenny is a specialist teacher and assessor who is passionate about her work and delighted to be part of the team at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
  • Prior to teaching, Jenny had a career in television, spending many years as a producer at the BBC. After a break to focus on family, she worked as a learning support assistant for a dyslexic pupil in a local primary school where she saw how profoundly a specific learning difficulty can impact a child’s life both in and out of the classroom. She also learnt how the right support can boost the confidence of children who are struggling, leading to renewed self-belief and a more positive, motivated approach to learning. The experience was so rewarding that she decided to retrain as a specialist teacher. She gained the OCR Level 5 teaching qualification and then, seeking to deepen her understanding of specific learning difficulties, completed the Level 7 Diploma at Helen Arkell.
  • Jenny enjoys many aspects of teaching, but particularly relishes the creative challenge of making learning multi-sensory, memorable and fun. On the assessment side, she most enjoys helping parents to better understand their child’s learning differences and how they can best support their learning at home.
  • Jenny has taught pupils from KS1 to KS3, both in schools and privately as a tutor. She currently works as an assessor for several independent schools in London, alongside her work at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
