• I am Nichola Ball, an experienced Specialist Assessor and Teacher. I have been working with children with specific learning difficulties since 2013. Supporting my own son with specific learning difficulties inspired my training to be able to empower other learners to reach their full learning potential. Amongst other qualifications, as such a Law Degree and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Guildford, in 2018 I completed the Level 7 and 5 Diplomas in Teaching and Assessing Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
• Previously, I have worked as an in-house Access Arrangement Assessor in a busy secondary school. Alongside my role as a Helen Arkell Specialist Assessor, I work as a Specialist Assessor and Teacher for the Local Authority assessing and teaching learners across the different key stages. This includes working in a variety of schools and carrying weekly assessments, interventions and advisory work.
• I aim to provide a holistic approach to my assessing. My practice is dedicated to providing a personalized service that is tailored to meet the individual’s learning needs. I am passionate about encouraging learners to understand how they learn best, empowering them to implement recommendations that will utilize their particular strengths to support any weaknesses.
