When to have Specialist Tuition
Sometimes children need an extra boost to
help them with learning. This may help a child to discover more about the
way they learn and strategies that can be put in place to support their
difficulties.
Our Specialist Teachers understand that each pupil
is different. Using your child’s strengths and their approach to learning, she/he will create an individual multi-sensory learning programme
to support your child’s areas of need.
Specialist tuition can be for a short
period of time or for longer should your child need it.
Where do sessions take place?
Tuition usually takes place at the Specialist Teacher’s home or at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity in Farnham. It may be possible to arrange for sessions to take place in your home or online.
Many schools welcome
Helen Arkell Specialist Teachers and tuition takes place at school. This has to
be arranged with the school by parents/guardians.
When?
The day and time of lessons is arranged between the Specialist
Teacher and parents/guardians.
You will receive a report at the end of each term, which
gives a valuable insight into your child’s progress.
Fee
Specialist tuition costs £66 an hour. Sessions can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes and fees will be adjusted accordingly.
A proportion of the fee
that you pay helps us to provide subsidised tuition to lower-income families.
This means nobody is excluded from getting the help they need. Thank you very
much for your help and support. Please note that when making an enquiry, there is the option for anyone to request bursary support.
Our Specialist Teachers
Helen Arkell Specialist Teachers hold specialist qualifications in teaching children with dyslexia. They can understand the strengths and
particular difficulties of individual learners, and are experienced in developing
a programme of specialist teaching to support that individual’s needs.
Our Specialist Teachers undertake regular
continuing professional development (CPD) and have access to, and the support
of, the senior professional staff at Helen Arkell. Each of our specialist
teachers has a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
